Frequently Asked Questions

How do I download new cities?

Open the app and tap on the city selector at the top of the map. Browse available cities and tap "Download" on any city you'd like to explore. Some cities are free, while others require a one-time purchase.

Why isn't audio playing automatically?

Make sure Companion Mode is enabled (tap the "Auto" button on the map). Also check that:

  • Location services are enabled for Waytale
  • Your device volume is turned up
  • The app has permission to play audio in the background
  • You're within the trigger radius of a point of interest

How do I change the narrator voice?

Go to Settings (gear icon) and tap on "Narrator Style". You can choose from 7 different narrator personalities, each with their own unique perspective and storytelling approach.

Can I use Waytale offline?

Yes! Once you've downloaded a city and its audio content, you can explore without an internet connection. The map and audio guides will work offline. However, you'll need an internet connection to download new cities or update content.

How do I restore my purchases?

Open Settings and tap "Restore Purchases". This will restore any cities you've previously purchased using the same Apple ID.

Is my location data private?

Yes, your privacy is important to us. Location data is only used to trigger audio guides and show your position on the map. We don't store or share your location history. Read our Privacy Policy for more details.

Troubleshooting

App crashes or freezes

  • Make sure you're running the latest version of Waytale
  • Try closing and reopening the app
  • Restart your device
  • Check that you have enough storage space

Audio quality issues

  • Check your internet connection when downloading content
  • Try re-downloading the audio for that city
  • Ensure your device's audio settings are configured correctly
  • Try using headphones to test if it's a speaker issue

Location not updating

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services
  • Make sure Waytale is set to "While Using App"
  • Check that your device's GPS is working properly
  • Try toggling airplane mode on and off

Network: Required for initial download and updates
